MAN CITY 4 – 0 Swansea – PLAYER RATINGS
16 Aug
Hart - A few fairly simple saves but wasn’t tested a great deal. Distribution fine - 6
Richards - Faced with Swansea’s best player in Sinclair and handled him very well. Full of pace and power, managed to get forward to good effect and delivered a perfect cross for Aguero’s first goal - 7
Kompany - Read the game brilliantly and brought the ball out from the back a couple of times, but Swansea didn’t pose any great threat - 6.5
Lescott - Similar to Kompany. With Swansea only playing one up front, he wasn’t too busy. Covered Clichy well when the former Arsenal man went forward - 6.5
Clichy - Won’t get many headlines but I was really impressed with him. Won his defensive headers well and stifled Dyer’s threat. Got forward as often as Kolarov but was far better than the Serbian in the final third. If he carries on like this, we might have finally solved the leftback problem - 8
De Jong - Competent in midfield, reading the game well but wasn’t the toughest game for him. Went off injured and we must hope it’s not serious - 6
Barry - After a fairly nothing first half showing, improved after break. Couple of nice touches going forward - 6
Y. Touré - Showed his immense power on a number of forward runs but little end product. Gave ball away too many times near the end as well, but he looked leaner than last year. Still looks shattered - 7
Silva - I fear I may get boring writing this, but he is a joy to watch. Magnificent in the way he controls the game, so calm on the ball, always in space, looking for a pass. Good to see him get on the scoresheet too. My man of the match - 9
A. Johnson - Given a surprising start in place of Balotelli and this was one of his better games. Swansea gave him too much space on the wing and Johnson did his best to exploit it - 7
Džeko - A huge improvement on last season. I was delighted for him that he scored and after the goal, you could see his confidence soar. Strong on the ball, good in the air and his dribbling, too, was impressive. Looked far better as well when Aguero was up there with him - 8.5
Subs
Aguero - Not a bad debut! Two goals, one assist and a stunning half hour cameo. The vision he possesses was there for all to see, the movement, the anticipation – we’ve got a player and a half on our hands. At £50m, Fernando Torres scored one goal in half a season. At £38m, Sergio Aguero scored two goals in half an hour - 9
Savic - Good management from Mancini to give him his debut when we 3-0 up and coasting. Eased him into the side - 6
Milner - I thought he should have started in place of Barry, but he’ll get his chances during the season. Not enough time on the pitch to make a great impact - No time to mark
Disagree with a couple here.
Clichy looked, well, distinctly average. He backed off the attackers far too often – something, I hate to say, he shares with Aleks (who I’d rather see in the team).
I think you know who I’m going to talk about next……
Mr Touré. I think he made 4 runs (not entirely sure) but for the remainder of the evening, he was usually found in his favourite position. On his bottom.
His shooting had the accuracy of something with fairly bad accuracy.
On the other hand. That Aguero chap looks like a fairly decent signing.
“Top of the table clash” trip to Bolton
Couldnt agree more about Clichy, didnt play with much heart either. King Kolarov is my choice. Yaya was poor, does not look fit, needs to prove himself in the smaller games, yes he is great against United, Arsenal etc but with Yaya and De jong im not convinced they contribute enough in these games, these games are a chance to change the squad.
I think Yaya deserves an 8, he did really good. Anyways, you can read on his stats for the game and his role in City’s sweet victory in the following link:

Is this rating system out of 10, or 9? What more could you possibly have wanted from Aguero? Why does the “10″ exist if someone who completely changes the game in 30 minutes cant get it?
I’m not sure he completely changed the game, as we were already 1-0 up and looking very comfortable. It was certainly an impressive cameo, but it was only half an hour.
Trust me, if he produces 90 minutes like that against United, he’ll get a 10 !!
Delighted you are appreciating Dzecko. He has had his chance recently and he has taken it with two hands. Yes Aguero looks fantastic but he wont be getting that kind of space for his pyrotechnics on the ball in next weeks game. So lets not rush out those Torres comparisons just yet.
Impressed with Clichy as well and I hope to now see him gain a regular place in the team. Just one issues of contention. Is it just me or has Johnson’s star really dimmed over the last season. His end product seems to have suffered terribly and he remains a better option as an impact player.
Thought Clichy was absolutely outstanding against the Swans. Thought Yaya was useless (he did nothing and is always tired), Savic looked shakey but got away with it because of the performance of Sergio!! Great game, nice to see us 0-0 at half time and finish 4-0 winners!!
Dzeko really impressed me too!
Barry only a 6? He was our best player in the second half without a doubt, played some great balls and defended with vigor. Dzeko was good late, i think mancini needs to play a 4-4-2 to get the best out of Dzeko, on his own its too difficult given his lack of pace. Decent start to the season, i wouldnt get too bullish about Aguero just yet but yes, he was very impressive indeed.
