Just two days after the pulsating draw with Liverpool, focus turns away from the Premier League and onto our trip to face Arsenal in the Carling Cup. Whilst it isn’t exactly top of our priorities this season, this is a chance to win silverware and that opportunity should never be sniffed at. Having defeated Birmingham and Wolves comfortably in previous rounds, we travel to the Emirates Staidum with a semi-final place up for grabs.

We defeated the Gunners at this stage of the competition in 2009, when we ran out 3-0 victors at Eastlands, although we haven’t beaten Arsenal away since October 1975. Both sides will undoubtedly make numerous changes to their sides, but it still promises to be an entertaining fixture.

Roberto Mancini may well name a totally different side to the one that earned a point at Anfield. Costel Pantilimon could be handed a rare outing, whilst Stefan Savic and Kolo Touré, the latter against his former club, will get some much-needed playing time. Owen Hargreaves is another possibility to start, whilst Adam Johnson will look to send Mancini a reminder of his talents.

Here is the side Mancini could select:

Manchester City 4-2-3-1 football formation

Arsenal, like City, are sure to make numerous changes and Arsene Wenger has declared his intention to give a rest to his key players. Israeli international Yossi Benayoun should start, as could the promising Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, whose pace is something we will have to be aware of.

Referee: Lee Probert – Will be the first time this season he’s officiated City, although I do remember him having an absolute stinker last season away to West Brom.

Prediction: Arsenal 1 - 1 MAN CITY (City to win on penalties) - I’ve a feeling it will go to penalties after an even 90 minutes and lifeless extra-time. Goals in normal time to be scored by Yossi Benayoun and Edin Dzeko.

All that quality and experience might well be too much for the Arsenal. Probably will be. The one drawback for Citeh picking older players is that those sorts of line ups in the milk cup often show up overconfident, a bit disjointed, and afraid to be seen trying too hard against Wenger’s kids, who usually come out all guns blazing and overturn bigger fish (except when they don’t). I’m pessimistic.

Now that Abdul-Razak is back from his loan spell. I will not be surprised to see him in the line up. I personally do not care for Curling Cup and I hope Mancini’s team selection is to rest core players for Norwich game.

I realy hope to see Shitty loose bigtime against young gunners tonight. A club without any history, which buys it way to suksess isn’t a club to respect at all….

History is for the past. Greece was once a super-power and but it is not anymore and on the verge of collapse, and who cares? The important thing is what you have not what you had. And when it comes to what you have, we have lots and lots and lots and lots …. of resources needed to succeed [we already took your spot last season :) ] , much to your dislike. And whether we lose or win, it will be a matter of time, before Arsenal is nothing more than City’s B.I.T.C.H [please excuse my language].

Must be really proud to support a club who has totally sold it’s soul and pride.

    Money buys you almost everything.

Can you name a few top clubs that operate on soul and pride with no money involved?. For years, Clubs like Liverpool, United, Arsenal have been flexing their financial muscle all along while other clubs like City could not compete with them. I bet at that time there was no talk of spirituality and soul salvation.

This is the nature of human that turn to God and spirituality when things get tough, so I totally understand your pain and talk of spirituality now that there is a new boy in town flexing its muscle!
