Who do Journalists Think Will be City’s Top Scorer this Season?
21 Aug
With the new campaign just days old, I asked a selection of journalists and media figures who they thought would be City’s top scorer this season. Here is what they said:
Iain Macintosh, Football writer for The New Paper and others: Aguero. The man is sheer class.
Oliver Kay, Chief Football Correspondent for The Times newspaper: Aguero
Mike Keegan, Sports News Correspondent for the Manchester Evening News: Carlos Tevez
Daniel Taylor, Chief football writer for the Guardian and Observer: Aguero, I guess. He had a great first season and he should be better for the experience. But Tevez looks sharp too. I must admit I’m surprised he is still here and, by all accounts, not being the pain-in-the-arse Tevez everyone has grown tired of. If he can carry on like that, that’s a brilliant front four, with Silva coming in from the right possibly and Balotelli from the left.
Gabriele Marcotti, writer and pundit for The Times, Corriere dello Sport, ESPN and more: Aguero. Again.
Ian Ladyman, Northern Football correspondent for the Daily Mail: Aguero.
Chris Cohen, Presenter and producer for Sky, ESPN and more: I think Tevez.
Rob Dawson, Football writer covering Man City and Man United for the Manchester Evening News: Sergio Aguero
Alistair Mann, Match of the Day and CityTV commentator: I am sure that if Sergio Aguero stays injury free he will be the top scorer but I do feel that just behind him will be Mario because the manner in which he scored in the Euros was heartening.
Jamie Jackson, Manchester football correspondent for the Guardian and Observer: Sergio Aguero.
James Ducker, Northern Football Correspondent of The Times newspaper: Aguero again. What a player he is.
Editor’s Note: All predictions were made before the fixture against Southampton.
