MAN CITY v Newcastle: The PREVIEW – City’s Probable Team
29 Mar
The international break has aided the Blues in terms of recovering players from injury, with Micah Richards and Maicon both back in training. The latter is slightly further ahead with regards to being match-fit but Pablo Zabaleta is likely to get the nod on the right of defence. After missing the past two months, Vincent Kompany played 90 minutes for Belgium, much to Roberto Mancini’s annoyance, and should he not show any reaction to that match, he’ll return to partner Matija Nastasic in the centre of the backline.
Paddy Power are offering new customers a FREE £25 bet! They have plenty of specials for City’s fixture against Everton, with Javi Garcia a tempting 14/1 to score the first goal of the game. City to be drawing 0-0 at half-time and then go on to win 2-0 stands out at a teasing 18/1. Click here to open an account and claim your FREE £25 bet!
There are a couple of battles in midfield, most notably between Javi Garcia and Gareth Barry as they both push to partner Yaya Touré, whilst Samir Nasri, fresh from a week’s rest, and James Milner, who impressed for England, are fighting for one spot in an attacking midfield berth. Sergio Aguero is training with the squad again and could be in line for a place alongside Carlos Tévez.
Here is the side Mancini could select:
Referee: Neil Swarbrick.
Prediction: MAN CITY 2 – 0 Newcastle – After the pitiful defeat to Everton, the international break may have done City good, allowing the players to get away and refresh themselves. The visitors are missing a number of key performers, so the Blues’ extra quality ought to prevail. Goals to be scored by Carlos Tévez and David Silva.
William Hill have some excellent odds for this match: Vincent Kompany is 25/1 to open the scoring whilst Carlos Tévez to score first and City to win 2-1 is hugely tempting at 33/1. Bet here now!
I Think the team will be
GK: Hart
LB: Clichy CB: Nastasic CB: Kompany RB: Zabaleta
DM: Barry DM: Garcia
AML: Milner AMC: Yaya Toure AMR: Silva
ST: Aguero
I think we will completely overpower Newcastle because of our class and them missing so many key players. I am predicting 5 – 1 with an Aguero double and with Kompany, Silva and Yaya all getting on the score sheet
I don’t feel that Garcia and Barry in harness as DMf’s is workable. Both lack pace although have other good qualities. They are too similar with Barry having declined somewhat and Garcia not yet (if ever to be) at the level Barry was at.
On balance I think that VfaB’s suggestion is most likely correct with (perhaps) Milner in for Nasri. If the latter starts I’d see this as him being given another opportunity to up his game and make himself important. Picking him ahead of James Milner would not be seen by many as choice on merit. Nasri has undoubted talent but his temprement, attitude and commitment have fallen short of acceptable standards of late. Milner has less innate ability and more of practically everything else.
I will come back with a reply :-p
I think edin dzeko should, and kun aguero should be rested with the Derby coming up
For the remaining fixtures with champions league football guaranteed i would like to see RM give some of the promising young talent that we have a chance to prove themselves on the big stage to see where we are at with our youth developement with likes of Lopes , Suarez and especially Guidetti. With his expliots in the Dutch League and now 5 goals in 4 games on his return from injury this boy just keeps scoring. We have got to give him his chance before the league ends because he more anyone else deserves it.
UNITED – 20!!
Enough said…
An impressive share! I have just forwarded this onto a co-worker who has been doing a little homework on this.
