Man Utd v MAN CITY: The PREVIEW – City’s Probable Team
7 Apr
For what feels like the least important Manchester derby in a number of seasons, Roberto Mancini has virtually a fully fit squad from which to choose. Micah Richards returned midweek to play for the EDS, as did Maicon, but this game may come just a touch too soon for both men. On the bright side, Matija Nastasic is thought to have recovered from the injury which forced him to miss the comfortable victory over Newcastle and he can expect to replace Joleon Lescott in the starting line-up.
Paddy Power are offering new customers a FREE £25 bet! They have plenty of specials for City’s fixture against Manchester United, with Yaya Toure a teasing 10/1 to score the final goal of the game. A cheeky £1 on the Blues to repeat the 6-1 thumping of last year would potentially see you £580 better off! Click here to open an account and claim your FREE £25 bet!
Yaya Toure, fresh from signing a new long-term contract, will be the central linchpin, with James Milner a possibility to replace Samir Nasri and thus solidify the midfield. Crucially, Sergio Aguero is fit again and is likely to come into the side in place of Edin Dzeko. If Mancini selects the team in the graphic below, which many Blues would argue is City’s best XI, it would, remarkably, be the first time this season that he has opted for that combination.
Here is the side Mancini could select:
Referee: Mike Dean – Sent off Vincent Kompany against Arsenal earlier this campaign, a decision which was overturned on appeal, and he was also in charge for the FA Cup semi-final a couple of years ago, when Yaya Toure’s goal powered the Blues to victory.
Prediction: Man Utd 1 – 1 MAN CITY – The home side have been stuttering in recent weeks but still manage to pull through, while City have been a touch hit-and-miss, yet have the quality to sparkle on any given day. I would expect this to be fairly tight, with the points shared. Goals to be scored by Robin Van Persie and Sergio Aguero.
William Hill have some excellent odds for this match: Sergio Aguero is 8/1 to score the first goal, while Vincent Kompany to do the same is a hugely tempting 34/1. Robin Van Persie to open the scoring and the match to finish 1-1 stands out at 45/1. Bet here now!
This united side isn’t that special, we are well capable of beating them, and I think we will
you were right
I believe now we have the ability to beat barca let alone our kids(man untd) and now we got the real samir nasri and with his help we win
Nasri the lil bitch that hid behind the wall. Good one MAAAAAAAAAHAMMMEEDDDDDD
May I remind you he is a City player Joey. Have you never fallen short on an important occaiosn? That wasn’t a great moment for him but he’#s had better ones since and still could become important for us. Try a bit of forgiveness and look for better, he has it in him.
I love this website
I think Nasri will start in front of Milner. I think we’ll win
I really do rate Milner. But I have to say our best 11 would still include nasri instead of Milner, based on current form absolutely Milner is the right choice, but nasri is world class when he feels like it.
We can definitely win this match. I really want to close the gap on united a bit. Get some sense of belief back for next season!
Come on city!
When fully fit, our first 11 is better than theirs, and we can beat them at a canter if we get up for it. It’s the injuries, poor quality in depth and concentration that have lost us the title this year, but I think first 11 vs first 11, we have the better team. Anything can happen in a derby, but the players and manager owe it to the fans to win this one.
I was deflected by Joey’s comment re Nasri. What I intended to post is that I think you have the starting line up spot on. I’d take a point now because these derby games have hanted me for decades, but I agree with the lads that believe we have the team to take all three points.
Drop Barry and stick Dzecko in.
Have tevez in the hole behind Dzecko & Aguero with Toure Silva and Milner in midfield and we can show Salford United that there is only one team in Manchester.
United have scraped too many one nil wins to kid themselves they are better than they are.
No excuse for us though, Mancini has made some terrible choices this season. He needs to realise that you can’t play Italian football in the Premier League. 3 at the back? Kolarov as a defender? 3-1 down and bringing on 2 defenders? Leaving Tevez out for so many games? Someone phone up Frank Rijkaard and tell him there is a job going in Manchester.
>> He needs to realise that you can’t play Italian football in the Premier League.
Obviously, an FA Cup, a premier league title and a Community Shield seem to say otherwise. This is not to say that his selections and tactics have not been questionable at times but who gets is right all the time? The last thing you want is to change managers as many times as you change your underwear in a month much like Chelsea. Unless there is a big failure such as not qualifying for Champions League, I do not think it is wise to let Bobby go.
united have been better at beating bad teams, but they do not have the talent that we possess
good game yesterday lads
Many good performances yesterday, but aguero is just on another level. He is our messi
