MAN CITY 2 – 1 West Ham – PLAYER RATINGS
28 Apr
Hart - Suffered a back spasm just moments before his blooper that gifted the visitors a last-minute consolation, but with all three City subs used he was forced to stay on. Otherwise barely called upon - 5
Zabaleta – Jarvis was a tricky customer and he had the better of Zabaleta on occasions, the Argentinean not sure whether the winger would go down the line or cut back onto his favoured right-foot. Still, very adventurous going forward and was an all-action presence bombing down the line - 7
Kompany - Physically up to the challenge and looked to be positive when City were in control, moving forward to offer another body in midfield - 7
Lescott – Drafted into the side to cope with the strength of Carroll and he was efficient in the execution of his role. Powerful in the air and quick to the tackle, he showed once again what an asset to the squad he is - 7.5
Clichy – A couple of neat touches in defensive areas to alleviate pressure but it wasn’t a game in which he was really noticed. Unable to involve himself much in our attacking play but was solid at the back - 6
Barry – The usual. Mopped up everything in midfield, won his tackles, read the game well and got us moving forward with his passing. Went largely unnoticed but that shouldn’t diminish perceptions of his role - 7
Y. Touré - Virtually sealed the game with a thronker of a strike, a delightful left-footed effort. Had hitherto been neat without truly having a meaningful impact, but he kept play ticking over and maintained our dominance for lengthy periods - 7
Nasri - His best game of the season. Showed an encouraging purpose and drive when in possession, willingly running at West Ham’s defenders and causing problems galore. It’s very rare that he outshines our other attacking stars but he did just that and the pity is that we’ve barely seen this sort of performance from him all campaign - 8
Silva – Not quite at his sharpest after returning from injury. Caught in possession a couple of times after dallying too long on the ball but still heavily involved in our play, even if his touch wasn’t always there - 6
Tévez - Worked tirelessly against his former club, finding himself in space regularly between the visiting side’s midfield and defence. Didn’t always make the most of those opportunities but he was a sparky presence in forward areas - 7
Aguero - Finished off an intricate passing move to open the scoring and put himself about as he always does, but didn’t have that clinical touch. Plenty of desire and heart but thwarted on occasions by some last-ditch blocks - 7
Subs
Milner – Introduced in place of Silva and helped Zabaleta in the closing stages - 6
Garcia – A late substitute, brought on just after we doubled our lead - No time to mark
K. Touré – Perhaps the final time we’ll see him in a City shirt - No time to mark
Nasri have been great the last couple of games
Nasri was excellent yesterday and showed why we need to keep him over the summer. I’m not saying he’s guaranteed to do well next year, but he has so much talent that it is easily conceivable he could shine next season.
I concur!
yeah nasri needs to stay, i’m definitely keen to see erikson and cavani arrive as it seems quite possible, but we really need to add some width, is erikson CAM same as silva and nasri?
really feel we are missing johnson as a supersub, just to change our dynamic in a game, attack from the wings. obviously Bale is ideal but realistically, who do we get?
definitely Cavani, then you would think we would add some width, Bale would be ideal but I cant see us being lucky enough to get both of them. Firstly it would cost us 80-100million, plus if we did you may as well give us the trophy in August. Reus is an outstanding player but I would think it very difficult to prize him away from Dortmund, Sanchez hasn’t lit up Barca but he may get another year there, so not sure where we go. Erikson is more of a central midfielder but looks a very good player
