Reading 0 – 2 MAN CITY – PLAYER RATINGS

15 May

Hart - Far busier than he was in the FA Cup final! His handling and shot-stopping were very good and he was quick off his line in treacherous conditions, but his distribution was still haphazard - 7

Richards - Moved into a centre-back role early on and it meant we never not got rewarded with his bursts of pace down the wing. Dominant aerially - 6

K. Touré – Taken off injured in what is sure to be his last City performance. He’s been a good servant to the club but it’s time for him, and the club, to move on - No time to mark

Lescott – Another reliable and solid showing in the heart of defence. City bossed proceedings which left him watching our enthralling atttacking play for the most part but he was there when required - 6

Clichy – After his torment at the hands of Callum McManaman on Saturday, he would have relished having such an easy defensive ride. Bombed forward throughout and his delivery into the box was better than usual - 6

Barry – I thought he might have been given a rest after his exertions at Wembley but he started and produced a simple, but necessary, performance in midfield. Superfluous at times but kept play ticking over - 6

Y. Touré - Reading posed such little threat in midfield and that enabled him to spend much of his time on the attack, linking up with our strikers and creative midfielders. Went close a couple of times with shots and played at a far quicker tempo than for parts of the season - 7

Milner - Outstanding. The team looks so much more balanced and unified with him in the side. He adds dynamism and directness to the silkiness of his teammates and his workaholic attitude, combined with touches of quality, stood out - 9

Silva – After disappointing at Wembley, he produced a sublime display, full of inventiveness and vision. His pass to release Dzeko for the Bosnian’s goal was just delectable and he was at the heart of all our scintillating football - 8.5

Tévez - A bundle of liveliness, dropping off intelligently into the vacant holes between Reading’s midfield and defence and driving forward with awareness and power. Ought to have got himself on the scoresheet but it was an impressive showing - 7.5

Aguero - Another one who disappointed at Wembley yet was far more of a threat last night. Too quick and strong for the opposition, he caused them numerous problems and his first-time finish rounded off one of our goals of the season - 7.5

Subs

Maicon – Offered a cultured presence on the right, getting forward beyond Milner at times and showing a delicate, refined touch with some of his passes and link-up play. Clearly far more comfortable on the attack than defending and if he has a full, injury-free pre-season behind him, he could be a useful outlet next season - 7

Garcia – His usual body check to concede a foul after poor positioning but otherwise not involved - 6

Dzeko – Some poor, hesitant play before he took his goal well - 6

We gave him a hard time at the start but he has surprised us all with his natural talent and willingness to take his chances, to think we thought the most interesting thing about him was his Girlfriends bust……Well done Scott Sinclair, definitely a well thought out buy and and intelligent addition to our squad……..Oh wait hang on a sec

Really enjoyable performance at the end of a tough week. It wouldn’t surprise me if Pelligrini took over and did a good job, performances like last night remind you of the talent we have.

With a few changes to the squad and a bit of a fresh feel about the place, maybe the owners will be proven right, whether or not I agreed with the decision.
