Aston Villa v MAN CITY – The PREVIEW: City’s Probable Team
27 Sep
After a successful return from injury in the Capital One Cup in midweek, Micah Richards faces a battle with Pablo Zabaleta for the right-back berth. Christian Benteke’s injury reduces the likelihood of Joleon Lescott being called into the side for his aerial prowess, while Gael Clichy and Aleks Kolarov are vying for a spot on the left of the back four.
With the blockbuster Champions League encounter against Bayern Munich looming, there may be a temptation to rest one of Yaya Touré and Fernandinho, with Javi Garcia and the fit-again Jack Rodwell contenders. David Silva and Sergio Aguero will both miss this match, so there may be the opportunity for Stevan Jovetic to start and hopefully continue his goalscoring form.
Here is the side Manuel Pellegrini could select:
Prediction: Aston Villa 0 - 2 MAN CITY – Shorn of their best attacking option, the home side shouldn’t pose too much of a threat to our backline, but we haven’t quite clicked away from home for a while so I’m not sure we’ll be banging the goals in as we have done in recent matches. I’m backing Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic to get their names on the scoresheet.
Well i am tipping to ship in an avalanche of goals if the scoring starts in the first half. However, a clean sheet and 2 goals minimum would be nice!
What’s wrong with Aguero?
