Southampton v MAN CITY – The PREVIEW: City’s Probable Team

6 Dec

Matija Nastasic is still sidelined, so Joleon Lescott is competing with Martin Demichelis to partner Vincent Kompany at the back. Gael Clichy is expected to return in place of Aleks Kolarov while Micah Richards will hope to be handed an opportunity on the right.

I’d expect James Milner to step in for Jesus Navas and for Alvaro Negredo to return alongside Sergio Aguero. There will also be the temptation for Manuel Pellegrini to introduce another midfielder, sacrificing a striker in an attempt to make us tougher to play through.

Sergio Aguero is a teasing 4/1 to open the scoring, while Yaya Touré is a great 9/1 to score the final goal of the game. New customers with Paddy Power get a free bet of up to £50!

If you think Vincent Kompany will score the only goal of the game, William Hill will give you the great odds of 125/1!

Here is the side that Pellegrini could select:

Referee: Anthony Taylor.

Prediction: Southampton 1 – 2 MAN CITY – The home side are more than capable of causing us problems, as they did last year, but they have plenty of injuries and we’re in a rich vein of form. It may be close, but I’m backing Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo to drive us to victory, with Rickie Lambert scoring for Southampton.

Samir Nasri is a tempting 9/1 to score the first goal of the game. Vincent Kompany, such a threat from set-pieces, is 33/1 to open the scoring. Bet here with Paddy Power and new customers receive a free bet of up to £50!

Sergio Aguero to score first and City to win 2-1 is a cracking 33/1 with William Hill. Bet with them here!

I would love to see Yaya to get rested at least for the first half and Rodwell be given a chance. As much as I love Yaya toure, but he happens to be a liability when gets no rest.

No way should we rest Toure. We need to win this game to top off a brilliant week.

Exactly. We can no take Southampton for granted because then they will beat us. They are a very good side and are more than capable of beating any team in the league on their day. We need to keep in contact with Arsenal, so we absolutely need to play Toure against Southampton.

The other option is to play Toure as a false #9 as he tends to neglect his defensive responsibilities, but would still be an offensive threat as he is almost impossible to knock of the ball, and pair Fernandinho with Milner or Rodwell. But that means dropping either Nasri or Negredo.
