MAN CITY v Arsenal – The PREVIEW: City’s Probable Team
13 Dec
After the sensational victory against Bayern Munich in the Champions League, belief and confidence should be high heading into this mouthwatering fixture with Arsenal. Joe Hart is expected to drop down to the bench again, with Costel Pantilimon returning in goal, whilst Gael Clichy faces a battle to be fit on the left of the back four.
The rest of the side picks itself. Yaya Touré will return after suspension, whilst James Milner, despite his heroics in midweek, and Jesus Navas will make way for David Silva and Samir Nasri. Another to impress against the Germans was Edin Dzeko but he can expect to return to warming the bench as Alvaro Negredo and Sergio Aguero form a blisteringly dangerous forward partnership.
Here is the side Manuel Pellegrini could select:
Referee: Martin Atkinson
Prediction: MAN CITY 3 – 2 Arsenal – These are the two best sides in the league in terms of quality of football played, but I’m backing City’s home advantage to provide a crucial edge. If both teams can produce the type of aesthetically pleasing styles we have become used to, it could be an enthralling affair and I’m backing Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Samir Nasri to drive City to victory, with Olivier Giroud and Jack Wilshere scoring the Gunners.
May be I am wrong, but when Silva and Nasri both play on the field, they tend to step on each other’s toe due to their style of playing of drifting from left to right and vice a versa.
Exactly. We need a speed outlet in Navas. Harsh to sit either Silva or Nasri , but I would
I’ve noticed that when they play they both end up banging into each other; it must happen at least 20 times a game.
I do prefer Navas with Silva but the manager knows best
If we can’t beat Arsenal with this team ,after this many games, there’s something a miss; we’ve got to win
Well youre not gonna drop silva and Nasri is on fire, its usually more of a case of Nasri underperforming when they are both on the pitch rather than an issue of banging into each other. Blue, not sure you can say something is amiss if we don’t win based on a one off game against each other but I expect a tight game either way
