Roma v MAN CITY – The PREVIEW: City’s Probable Team
9 Dec
Bacary Sagna got the nod at right-back against Bayern Munich in the last Champions League tie, but it is expected that Pablo Zabaleta will start in defence for this crucial encounter. In the centre of defence, Vincent Kompany is likely to be risked, such is his importance to the side.
Yaya Touré is suspended, but his absence could be offset by the inclusion of David Silva after a spell on the sidelines. The Spaniard is clearly not match fit, yet Manuel Pellegrini may well be tempted to start him in our hour of need. Stevan Jovetic and Edin Dzeko are battling for one spot up front, with either Frank Lampard or James Milner the likely beneficiaries if Silva is only named on the bench.
Here is the side Pellegrini could select:

Prediction: Roma 2 – 1 MAN CITY – We travel full of confidence and with strong momentum after recent results, but with Aguero out, Yaya suspended and Silva nowhere near fit, I just fear Roma will be too strong and clever at home. Aguero’s hat-trick against Bayern papered over some fairly substantial cracks and it has to be a concern that we do not seem to be learning how to play in the Champions League. It will no doubt be tight and tense, but I worry it may just be out of our reach.
Probably fair to think Roma will edge it but I would just like to think that come back against Bayern wasn’t for nothing, 2-2.
I think the blues are going to nick it – don’t ask me how – but that’s my gut feeling!!!
The author of this journal always writes City off; he’s a total weasel.
