Leicester 0 – 1 MAN CITY – PLAYER RATINGS
13 Dec
Hart - Saw one Cambiasso free-kick whistle by his post, but enjoyed a fairly relaxed afternoon with regards to shot-stopping. A couple of decent punches under pressure - 6
Sagna - Brought in so that Zabaleta could rest somewhat and he produced a solid enough display. Defensively solid against the enigmatic Schlupp and showed plenty of energy to burst forward. Doesn’t quite have the touch of class or timing of run that Zabaleta does in the final third, but he’s a very capable back-up - 7
Kompany - Had coped fine with the pace of Vardy and the aerial prowess of Ulloa, but then suffered a reoccurrence of his hamstring problem. You have to wonder whether he was rushed back too soon - 6
Mangala - Showed a great turn of pace to prevent Vardy getting a clear shot at goal early on and was comfortable at the back against a limited threat. There’s still a recklessness about him at times, but he’s improving gradually - 7
Clichy - Another gritty display from the Frenchman. Quick to the tackle and eager to get forward, he was a lively presence on the left - 7
Fernando - Offered the defence some meaty protection, sitting in and cutting off angles in the air and on the ground. Also showed a keenness to move into more advanced positions - 7
Y. Touré - Found life congested for the most part as both teams operated with five in midfield. He couldn’t quite get his passing game going, but did spark into action with more purpose in the second half - 6
Lampard - Hardly involved as we lacked a target man in attack whom he could play off, but then did what he does best by gliding unmarked into the box and slotting home. A crucial goal from a player whose value increases weekly - 6
Nasri - Neat enough and did well to create Lampard’s goal, but didn’t have the influence he has exerted over the past couple of weeks - 6
Silva - Great to see him return and look fit, twisting and turning to create danger. Lacked the runners in the final third to give him options - 6
Pozo - A thankless task and he grew increasingly isolated. He’s very slight and that means he was often bullied, unable to hold on to the ball and bring others into play. Worked tirelessly to try to provide an outlet, but needs more support around him - 6
Subs
Milner - Did his usual stifling job on the wing - 6
Navas - Added some pace to the side - 6
Demichelis – One crucial block late on - No time to mark
Don’t waste stupid money in Jan ie 20 mill on a striker Thierry henry on a five month contract for free, that’ll do the trick nicely.
Surely he’s past it now? We need someone who can complete 90 minutes as well as play 2 or maybe even 3 times in a week, just don’t think he’s the answer.
Id say play yaya at striker for the time being. He’s clinical enough and can at least hold it up . We’re not lacking in mids behind him
Agree with you completely. Can’t understand why Yaya hasn’t been played up front yet.
Mangala and Fernando proving a few doubters wrong recently. Really is ridiculous how some players get written off by their own fans after 6 or so weeks in a new country and league
