MAN CITY v Aston Villa – The PREVIEW: City’s Probable Team
25 Apr
After the comfortable victory at home to West Ham last time out, it would be a surprise if there were too many changes for this encounter. Vincent Kompany and Gael Clichy both remain sidelined at the back, so the defence is set to be unchanged, with Fernandinho and Fernando battling for one role in central midfield.
Jesus Navas starred last weekend and is set to keep his place, but Samir Nasri is out with an injury sustained during the week in training. Frank Lampard could be the one attacking player to drop to the bench now that Wilfried Bony and James Milner are fit.
Here is the side Manuel Pellegrini could select:
Referee: Mike Dean.
Prediction: MAN CITY 3 – 1 Aston Villa – The visitors are on a much-improved run of form under the leadership of Tim Sherwood, but there is every chance that their focus may have shifted towards Wembley and the FA Cup final. City have recovered some confidence and momentum following the home win against West Ham, so I’m backing the Blues to record another victory, with goals to be scored by Sergio Aguero, Wilfried Bony, David Silva and Christian Benteke.
Eliaquim Mangala at 34/1 to score the opening goal looks to have some value.
I prefer it when we play 5 in the middle; with Ya,Ya playing further up the field. If he’s not going graft, play him in a position where he’s going to be of some use. You can see why Barcalona used him as in ‘impact player’.
Let’s win this and hope that United and Arsenal drop points; both have difficult games.
If we regain 2nd place it will keep the gloating weasels from making ridiculous remarks about the Club
Play the same team as against west ham. Our problems were solved with lampard in the holding role and yaya playing in his favourite position. Its obvious we need a hard working creative player of the likes of alonso, pogba or verratti in the holding role.Another good purchase would be pedro and or filipe anderson of lazio to give speed and technique to our flanks.
I agree with you mike I’d like the same side as last week with frank starting. (Who gives a sh1t what I want eh??) As we know villa are playing well at the minute & cause most teams problems. With regard to signing “big” names in the summer I still say that we are outsider’s to get pep & pogba… I can’t see it happening. Isco on the other hand would be a fabulous signing – a smashing player who would suit us to a tee. Him & Silva together would be brilliant. Good value at 30 odd. It must be mentioned again about the rise in ticket prices – the hike for the wheelchair user’s is disgraceful. What the hell is going on with that? I don’t remember that been mentioned in the “blueprint” 45mil for debryne?? That’s a joke? This whole football business is starting to leave a sour taste in my mouth. Ii say no more about the 42 & his weasel agent. He makes colonial parker look like saint Augustine. Another complete & utter wan**r.
