NAC Breda this season returned to the Eredivisie after two years in the Eerste Divisie and SVB Vitesse made sure they didn’t allow them any welcoming party on the opening day. It has taken no more than one league for NAC Breda to discover that life in the Dutch top flight is going to even tougher than last time.
Stijn Vreven’s newly promoted side succumbed to a 4-1 defeat to SVB Vitesse as five Manchester City youngsters featured for the Yellow Army. However, the City youngsters did show promising signs as 20-year- old Thierry Ambrose scored NAC’s only goal of the game, with fellow Citizen, 19-year- old Manu Garcia grabbing the assist. Though, the youngsters efforts were rather fruitless as Vitesse were already three ahead.
Still, the debut goal is a special moment for Ambrose and a huge indication that the Frenchman can put last season behind him. The 2016/2017 campaign was far from plain sailing for the youngster and his year was plagued by injuries. Angelino, Thomas Aagyepong and Paolo Fernandes also turned out for the Dutch side though the quintet will be hoping for better days as the season moves on. NAC may be odds on for relegation with this Sky Bet free bet offer, but the City youngsters will do everything in their power to ensure NAC remain in the top flight.
Elsewhere in Holland, Issac Buckley-Ricketts made his debut for FC Twente, coming on as a substitute on the 75th mark. It was a close match for FC Twente who slipped to a narrow 2-1 defeat to the hands of Dutch giants Feyenoord.
Back in England, Joe Hart has certainly seen better days as he returned to the Premier League with West Ham. The Hammers were thrashed by Manchester United as Romelu Lukaku marked his Old Trafford debut with a brace.
Further down, in the Championship, Bersant Celina watched from the bench as Ipswich Town came from behind to clinch a 2-1 win at Barsnley. It has been a promising start for Town with the Tractor Boys kicking off the season with back-to-back wins since the 2002/2003 season. Celina will be very much hoping he can enter the furore soon. Across Anglia, Norwich have failed to mirror their rival’s positive start with Angus Gunn enduring a miserable afternoon on goal as the Canaries were beaten 3-1 at home to Sunderland.
