17 Man City Players to feature at the World Cup

With the Premier League season done and dusted, we now turn our attention to the biggest sporting event of the year, the world cup. Whilst many City players were sipping champagne on a beach somewhere over the last week, it was back to business as international training camps started this week – giving teams just two weeks to prepare for the games starting on 14^th June.

Man City’s Premier League winning team has broken the record with the most number of players from a squad selected for a world cup (17), just beating Real Madrid to the punch who have 16 and Arsenal’s record in 2006, also with 16.

Representing 8 nations, Brazil will be taking 4 Manchester City players with them including Gabriel Jesus, Fernandino, Danilo and goalkeeper Ederson.

Elsewhere, the Three Lions have 4 players including 3 of City’s back four in John Stones, Fabian Delph and Kyle Walker.

Who to watch

Currently the bookies favourite to win the competition is Brazil and Germany at both 7/2, followed by France and Spain at 6/1.

Brazil look the most promising with other key players including Neymar, ex-Liverpool player Coutinho and full-backs Dani Alves and Marcelo.

Fans will have high expectations for France who have the most attractive looking side with players including Griezmann, M’bappe, Pogba and Kante. With a group of Australia, Denmark and Peru, they are expected to cruise to the top of the group C where they will likely play Iceland or Croatia in the last 16.

England fans will be in two minds watching their team face two City stars for Belgium in Vincent Kompany and Kevin De Bruyne. England face Belgium in the third and final game of the group stage which could be crucial to landing a top spot in the group, potentially avoiding Colombia in the last 16.

As the dark horse of the competition and possibly the most interesting bet of the tournament, Dickie Bet currently has Belgium outright winner odds at 16/1.
