MAN CITY 3 – 1 Wolves – PLAYER RATINGS

30 Oct

Hart – Only had one shot to save and he fumbled it, parrying it straight out into the centre of the goal instead of to the side, causing Kompany’s red card, the penalty and then the goal. Not the first time this season he’s lacked conviction on turning away shots and needs to work on this weakness - 5

Richards - In the first half, his pace and power down the right was our most potent attacking weapon but had to be a touch more circumspect in the second period. Defensively fine - 7

Kompany - Was having a solid game, containing Doyle well, until he received his red card. Will only miss one game, the away fixture at QPR - 6.5

Lescott – Continued his impressive start to the season with another commanding performance. Was a leader for the last ten minutes when we were down to ten men - 7

Kolarov - Typical Kolarov really in that he scored his goal from the centre forward position! Bombs on with such frequency and is lucky that other members of the team, most noticeably Barry and Nasri, have the awareness to fill in for him - 7

Barry – My man of the match. Won his tackles in midfield, read the game brilliantly and some of his passing was crisp and always to a fellow Blue shirt. Underrated by many who don’t watch us every week, but appreciated by Mancini and he’s another one who has been outstanding so far this season - 7.5

Y. Touré - Another game where he just coasted by without having any meaningful impact. Didn’t offer protection for the defence, didn’t use his imposing frame going forward but just patrolled the middle and played some short passes. A typical Yaya performance in a match he doesn’t view as important - 6

Nasri - Was very bright early on, always wanting the ball and looking for openings. Tracked back well on both sides to support his fullbacks and will have given Mancini a tough decision for Wednesday - 7

Silva - Was never going to match his performance against United but still at the hub of all our good moves. Finds time and space like no other and although his radar was slightly off, never stopped trying and always looked positive - 7

Aguero - Showed his electric burst of pace on a couple of occasions and that, combined with his surprising strength, make it hard for defenders to knock him off the ball. His willingness to chase the ball was the catalyst for our first goal and linked well with those around him - 7

Džeko - Tucked away an easy chance to make it five goals in the past three games and his all round display was promising. Held the ball up and brought others into the game. Confidence is returning - 7

Subs

A. Johnson – As per usual, made an impact as a substitute. Added width to the right hand side and although he got into a couple of defensive pickles by refusing to hoof the ball clear, he added a superb third goal to seal the win - 7

Balotelli - Would have been disappointed not to start but Mancini was probably keeping him back for Wednesday’s game with Villarreal. Put himself about in his cameo and held the ball up superbly for Johnson’s goal - 6.5

Savic - Replaced Aguero when Kompany was sent off and looked secure - No time to mark

Why only a 1 game ban for a straight red?

Yes Barry was Underrated but also remember him for England against Germany in the world cup, Why on Earth was Toure playing in this game? It beats me

1 game ban because it was a professional foul rather than violent conduct.

Two angles to Kolarov. I appreciate your opinion above, however, our full backs need to get forward as this is how they add width. Albeit, he scored in a centre forward position but notice how against villareal we scored both goals when our full backs go forward, so it is essential to our attacking success. I wasn’t at the game but was Kolarov slow to get back into position? Other websites have said that he performed well in the game. I’m happy with him, his performances have really picked up of late and he is making me eat my words (I labelled him a waste of money last season).

Whilst Im here two other things. Would love to see all the cross sold now: Judez, grabayor and looks like tours if we are to believe the press. However, if these departures materialise do not be surprised Mancio sniffs out a centre half. However, bravo to his recruits to date, imagine how good we will be when nasri clicks!!!!

    Have a good Sunday all

As England’s number one goal keeper, Hart should know better how to move the ball to side as opposed to right into the patch of opposing team. This is not the first time he is doing it.

It is always good for defenders to score and as long as Kolarov is covered by him or other player, I do not see anything wrong with him pushing forward. However, he should be wary that top teams like Chelsea would punish you if he leaves gap behind. Mind you, I still prefer Clichy over him
