This is a guest post from Eugen Platon.
After a few years when the best players left the Premier League for Spanish or German teams and the competition seemed to decrease in value, things seemed to change and top players were signed by the English teams. And last summer transfers shows us why is so popular football online betting in the UK.
The English teams do not have the same performances in the European competitions as in previous years, but many people consider that the Premier League is the best league. After increasing the TV rights everything has changed and a lot of world class players arrived in England and with them some of the best coaches. Jurgen Klopp arrived at Liverpool last season, while this season Jose Mourinho was appointed by Manchester United, Antonio Conte by Chelsea and maybe the biggest surprise Pep Guardiola arrived at Manchester City.
Last season Leicester City produced one of the biggest surprises in football history as they won the Premier League even if nobody gave them any chance. Manchester City appointed Pep Guardiola as their coach and everybody wanted to see what changes will be done to a team that had a disappointing season in Premier League.
The Spanish coach wanted full control over the squad and the Manchester City board were convinced that he is the right man and gave him an impressive budget for transfer.
Guardiola’s decisions were totally surprising because he put on the transfer list some players that were important for the club in the last couple of seasons. Goalkeeper Joe Hart was loaned to the Italian club FC Torino even if last year he was the number one at the club and England national team. Eliaquim Mangala was also loaned to Valencia. Samir Nasri is on loan at Sevila, Wilfried Bony on loan at Stoke City and probably one of the biggest surprises was to leave Yaya Toure out of his plans.
Manchester City bought Ilkay Gundogan from Borussia Dortmund for around £20m, Nolito from Celta Vigo for £13.8m, Leroy Sane from Schalke for £37m, John Stones from Everton for £47.5m and Claudio Bravo from Barcelona for £15.4m.
The players need some time to accommodate with the new team but for now they proved to be very inspired transfers. After 7 games in Premier League, Manchester City are 1st in the league with 18 points, 6 consecutive games won and a defeat against Tottenham. If Manchester City would have won the game against Tottenham, Guardiola would have become the first coach in Premier League to have started a season with seven consecutive wins.
It is well known that his teams are playing a possession game which he admitted that the style and ideas are coming directly from Johan Cruyff. The Spanish coach insisted that his team will continue playing possession football because he considers that it’s the perfect strategy for a winner. However he admitted that in football nobody can win all the games and you can lose even you have the possession.
After the good start, the board is ready to satisfy every requirement. It seems that Guardiola wants another 3 players with the hope that with this 3 players Manchester City can win the Champions League. Hector Bellerin from Arsenal Londra, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Borussia Dortmund and Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus Turin are the three players that Guardiola wants to bring to the City of Manchester stadium. With this three world class players Guardiola is convinced that he will be able to win the so much desired thropy by Khaldoon Al Mubarak, the Manchester City chairman.
