The Early Stages – The Citizens were looking unstoppable
The arrival of Pep Guardiola has raised hopes and expectations from the fans and the start of the new season couldn’t have been any better. Six victories in the first six rounds, including the win in the big derby match against United in early September. The final result of that game was 2-1, with De Bruyne and Iheanacho scoring the goals against The Red Devils.
The first loss happened one month later. Pep’s squad was defeated at White Hart Lane by Tottenham Hotspur 2-0, and the things have started to get uglier from that point. After a couple of draws against Everton and Southampton, then losses to Chelsea and Leicester, it was obvious The Citizens won’t be able to keep up with Chelsea FC.
The Current Standings And Predictions
With only seven rounds left to be played, the team is sitting in the 4th position with 61 points. The chances to end the season above Liverpool and earn direct placement to UEFA Champions League are not bad at all. However, inconsistency and not so easy schedule could also allow Man Utd and Arsenal to catch up and fight for the 4th spot as well.
Biggestfreebets.com have been phenomenal with their betting and overall predictions when it comes to Premier League, so we hooked up with them to see their thoughts on the remaining seven rounds and their prediction where Man City is going to end.
Here are the thoughts of their Premier League writer Thomas Lundy: “The upcoming duel against Man Utd is pretty much going to be a decider. Pep’s squad has conceded way too many goals, which is the main reason for the elimination from UCL playoffs. If they could work on that and get their form to slightly higher level, I have no doubts we will see them end in at least 4th spot. Besides the game against The Red Devils, there is only one tough match against Leicester left, so it is fair to say The Citizens have easier schedule than their opponents. The current odds to see City end in top 4 are 1/8″.
