Hart - It says everything about how dominant Bayern were that Hart was our man of the match. Made some superb stops, diving at full length to keep the deficit respectable. For both goals, produced world class saves but unfortunately wasn’t supported by his defence - 8.5
Richards - Much like the team, he started promisingly in the opening half an hour. Kept Ribery quiet and bombed forward. However, faded awfully and couldn’t restrain the Frenchman, who proceeded to run the game. Didn’t give us any thrust in the second half - 6
K. Touré - A very surprising selection ahead of Joleon ‘J-Lo’ Lescott, who has the right to feel very aggrieved. Perhaps chosen for his extra pace and reading of the game, but he looked off the pace, horribly unfit and reacted slowly in the box, most notably for Bayern’s second goal. Bizarre decision by Mancini - 4.5
Kompany - Still looks nothing like the commanding rock he was last season. Showed his pace on a couple of occasions but we needed someone to keep Bayern at bay and Kompany couldn’t. Should be reunited with J-Lo for the Blackburn game - 6
Clichy - Another one who started well but faded. Late for some challenges and couldn’t provide an attacking outlet down the left. His worst game in a City shirt so far - 6
Barry - Controlled the midfield in the opening exchanges, winning the ball back and keeping possession. Unfortunately he couldn’t keep it up and in the second half, he was a passenger. And a tired one at that. Deserves a rest at the weekend - 5.5
Y. Touré - I know regular readers of the blog think I’m harsh to Yaya, but last night was just pathetic. Made no effort to hussle and harry, even at the start of the game, and despite being pushed further forward when De Jong came on, he had no impact. He’s getting tiresome now - 4
Nasri - Link up play for 30 minutes was promising. Looked bright and breezy but then Bayern marked him tighter and as a result, Samir couldn’t find the space to play. Ineffective - 5.5
Silva - One of the few who kept going until the end, trying to make something happen. We couldn’t get him into the game enough though and whenever he did get the ball, there weren’t enough willing runners ahead of him - 6.5
Aguero - His head dropped worryingly in the second half when he had little support and it’s nights like these when we need him to produce something magical. OK on the ball but could move it quicker - 6
Džeko - Very disappointing reaction when replaced and although I don’t think he was as bad as Mancini made out afterwards, he wasn’t at his best. Has been off form in the past few matches and looked unconvincing when shooting early on. Needs a goal to get his confidence back - 5.5
Subs
De Jong - Clearly brought on in an attempt to gain a foothold of midfield. We lacked his bite and desire to win the ball back, but unfortunately he didn’t look fit enough to do that job - 5.5
Milner - A bit of a nothing display. Didn’t add anything but didn’t do anything wrong, either - 5.5
Kolarov - Looked eager and had a couple of decent efforts - 6
When our mid-field failed to pace up esp Yaya and slow Barry, Richard had to face two people Ribery and Laham runs. I do not blame him much. However; It makes you wonder what the heck our defenders were doing when Bayern scored on the second rebound for their first goal.
We lack commanding CBs, Lescott and Toure are not up-to it. Adding fuel to the fire, Kompany is also losing his MOJO.
Both Yaya and Barry were pathetic, and I think both should be rated the same.
I think that the players should be rated for the first half performance only as something must have happened during the talk to lead to the subsequent wimpering performance and off field antics.
Clichy and Richards were really exciting to watch getting forward. And yes Ya Ya is quickly beconing the midfield version of Jo. He is a disaster.
