Fulham 1 – 4 MAN CITY – PLAYER RATINGS

22 Nov

Hart - Wasn’t called into action a great deal, but dealt comfortably with everything that was thrown at him. Distribution was sound and he looked to get rid of the ball early in order to set up attacks - 6

Zabaleta – Another fantastic display from the Argentine, this time in his favoured right-back role. Supported our attacks with regularity and capped off his showing with a wonderfully taken strike to notch his second goal for the Blues. Picked up a booking for a ill-timed challenge which rules him out of the Stoke fixture - 8.5

K. Touré – Lambasted his teammates earlier in the day so needed a strong performance and supplied one. Handled the considerable threat of Andy Johnson and showed good pace and strength on a number of occasions - 8

Kompany - The Belgian has incontestably been one of the most consistent defenders in the Premier League this season, and he continued his rich vein of form with another sterling display. Won everything in the air and on the ground, including one goal-saving tackle on Johnson. Looks increasingly dangerous from attacking set-pieces - 8.5

Kolarov - A genuinely attacking left-back. Provides great balance down that side, defending solidly and getting forward whenever possible. Should have scored when he was clean through on goal after a counter-attack and nearly rifled one home in the second half - 8

De Jong – Does the simple things well to keep us ticking over in midfield. He was not needed to be at his destructive best as Fulham didn’t cause us too many problems, but his passing and control were superb - 7.5

Y. Touré - Pushed much further forward than in recent times and contributed only his second goal for the Blues at the culmination of a stunning 24 pass move. Kept the ball very impressively in the first half but my only complaint is that he should win more headers for someone of his imposing size - 7.5

Barry - He was poor in midweek for England but this was Gareth at his very best. It was a complete performance from the midfield start, helping defensively and retaining possession fantastically. Kept the ball moving at a good tempo and it was his pass that set up the first goal - 8.5

Silva - We look so much better as a team when the Spaniard is in control of the ball. Oozes quality and always seems to have more time in the ball than anyone else. Picked out a number of delicious passes, most notably for Tévez and Kolarov but for someone of his indubitable ability, he should score more - 8

Tévez - After a rare off day against Birmingham, Tévez, in front of the watching Maradona, was the inspirational captain we know and love. He set the tempo for our win with a wonderfully taken early goal, and throughout, he looked bright and full of running. Should have scored another in the second half when he was through one on one and was slightly lucky with his flick from Zabaleta’s cross, but he led by example - 9

Jo - Not many would have had him down to start but he justified his inclusion with a controlled and professional display. Worked hard to track back down the left and provided some much needed balance. Supported Tévez well, won a few headers and helped to set up a couple of the goals - 7.5

Subs

A. Johnson -  Appeared for the last twenty minutes but didn’t really have any impact - 6

Vieira – His legs probably felt a bit stiff after sitting down for so long, so would have enjoyed his brief run out but nothing of note - No time to mark

Milner – The Adebayor role. Came on in the last couple of minutes - No time to mark

Everything good we do comes from when silva has had the ball. Kolorov looks so quality. I feel for Zaba because because of a stupid yellow, if boa plays well he could lose his spot in the team

Once again that man Tevez sparks us into life to gain a result that is IMO is Roberto Mancini’s most important one to date. Most of the press box was probably foaming at the prospect of Mark Hughes’ Fulham giving us a beating, but that was quickly diminshed with a typical spot of bullishness by our awesome Argie. For me, he is without doubt one of the top ten players in the world, possibly top five, and his ability to change a game has been displayed on numerous occassion during his City career. Sure all the other players played well, even Jo, but Carlos is the greatest player I have ever seen playing for City and my reasoning for that was pretty much incapsulated by yesterdays game.

    Hi there.

My comments are as follows, but feel free to ignore them as I didnt actually see the game.

1.) Zaba to be docked a point or two for a stupid yellow card. Against Stoke, he is the sort of player we need, absolutely gutted that he will miss that game.Nice to see him bomb up the pitch and have a few shots too.

2.) Kolarov to be docked a point for his frankly awful effort on the one-on-one. A pensioner in a wheelchair could have produced a more powerful shot. Such a weak and disappointing effort.

3.) Tévez to be docked a point for not passing to Silva, (or it mgiht have been Jo, I cannot tell the difference!) when through on goal, as they would have slotted home and extended our lead.

Nevermind, I cannot complain with a 4-1 win. One term I particularly like is ‘oozes quality’….it makes me tingle inside.

    Top review :) Congratulations x
