MAN CITY 1 – 0 Tottenham – PLAYER RATINGS

11 May

Hart - Outstanding full-length diving stop from Pienaar’s header, but despite Spurs’ dominance of possession, he wasn’t tested a great deal. Handling good when it needed to be - 7

Richards - Stepped straight back in after injury and looked as if he had never been away. A monumental performance, full of heart, desire and willing. Bombed forward down the right, offering us pace and strength in attack, and was fantastic at the back with last-ditch blocks and headers. Will be key against Stoke - 9

Kompany - A captain’s performance at the heart of defence. Stood up to Crouch aerially and put in a few blocks and clearances. Brought the ball out of defence as well on a couple of occasions - 8.5

Lescott - Another one who looked secure at the back. Won his header against Crouch and covered well for Zabaleta on occasions when Lennon threatened - 7.5

Zabaleta - Reverted back to the left of defence in place of Kolarov and, for the most part, handled the pace of Lennon well. The winger escaped him a couple of times, as will invariably happen, but Zabaleta competed well and managed to get forward too - 7.5

Milner - An all action display in midfield. Started in the middle before being shifted out to the right but put in a great performance wherever. Quick thinking and a dangerous cross for the goal. Left Mancini with a tricky decision ahead of the final - 7.5

De Jong - Found the going tough at times as Spurs swamped the midfield, with the likes of Modric and Van Der Vaart lively. But stuck to his task and did fine. Supported by Vieira in later stages and managed to get foothold in game - 7

Y. Touré - Operated from deeper than usual once Mancini tweaked his tactics and as a result, couldn’t use him physical threat going forward as much. When Spurs started pressing in second half, he needed to grab the game by the scruff of the neck, but didn’t. Solid contribution overall - 7

A. Johnson - With the inexperienced Rose at left-back, Johnson should have really got at him, but wasn’t a threat at all. Still far better coming off the bench as an impact sub, as he lacks the consistency over 90 minutes to be enough of a threat - 6

Silva - Some delightful touches in the first half as he showed his indubitable class, but faded in the second half. We need to get him more involved with play if we are to be a constant menace. Stoke will try to kick lumps out of him on Saturday, but he has enough class to be a danger - 7

Džeko - Still struggling to adapt to the pace of the English game, as is to be expected. First touch was severely lacking, although his height at set-pieces is invaluable. Been given a couple of starts recently, but not shown enough to be deserving of a Wembley berth - 6

Subs

Kolarov - Did OK defensively against Lennon although Spurs’ efforts were more direct in the later stages. Tried to get forward although his touch let him down when he should have done better - 6

Vieira - Not often we have been able to say this about Vieira, but he changed the game. We were being overwhelmed in midfield until he came on, but his presence gave us a foothold in the game. Controlled, calm and used all of his experience. Nearly scored as well with a delightful chip - 8

Tévez - Great to see him return, albeit only for ten minutes. Will be a big call for Mancini as to whether he starts at Wembley - No time to mark

Milner has to be a stater for Wembley he has come into his own in a blue shirt when placed in midfield instead of the wing. That mmay be harsh on Barry but i believe its the right call.
