Hart - Couldn’t have done anything with either Chelsea goal and apart from a simple stop in the first half from a Drogba attempt, he wasn’t called into action - 6
Zabaleta - Just the type of character we needed with our backs to the wall. Got stuck in on both sides, though couldn’t offer anything going forward. With Clichy and Kolarov missing against Arsenal, he’ll probably line up at left-back - 6.5
Kompany - For the most part, dealt with Drogba well. Was powerful in the air although was perhaps a touch fortunate to stay on the pitch. Picked up a yellow and made a couple of poor challenges after that - 6.5
Lescott - Dominant throughout as Chelsea bombarded our penalty area with crosses. Was a tower of strength though should have kept his arms by his side for the penalty - 7.5
Clichy - Found Sturridge’s pace and trickery tough to deal with. Beaten far too easily for the first goal and was then correctly sent off for a pair of late tackles. Will miss the Arsenal game - 4
Barry - Another outstanding performance, rising to the challenge and he’s my man of the match. Won his tackles in midfield, intercepted well, read the game superbly and retained possession with ease. Continues to confound his critics - 8
Y. Touré - At fault for Chelsea’s first goal when he inexplicably failed to track the run of Meireles. He looked totally disinterested throughout and was very fortunate to stay on the pitch. Ought to have seen red for a series of tackles. Passing was woeful at times - 4.5
Milner - As per usual, put in a superb shift for the team in a number of positions. His movement in the opening half hour was excellent and caused Chelsea’s defence problems, though once they gained control of midfield, he was forced to drop deeper and deeper - 7
Silva - Outstanding for the opening minutes but faded very quickly and was virtually anonymous in the second half. With City defending deep, he wasn’t able to exert his authority on the play and was substitued - 6.5
Balotelli - Took his goal superbly and looked very bright at the start but then understandably faded as Chelsea pressed. Was forced out wide after the sending off and grew increasingly frustrated. However, the number of freekicks given against him for nothing fouls is astonishing. He’s unfortunately preceeded by his reputation - 6.5
Aguero - Produced a fantastic piece of skill and vision for the goal but was isolated after a bright opening and replaced when Clichy was sent off. Should have done better with his once opportunity - 6
Subs
K. Touré - Preferred ahead of Savic and did nothing wrong - 6
De Jong - Brought on to gain a foothold in midfield although Chelsea scored moments after he came on - 6
Dzeko - Only saw the last few minutes once Lampard scored the penalty and had no chance to make an impression - No time to mark

agreed, he was all over the place and couldn’t pass for toffee! If De Jong had been brought on for him earlier in the second half I think we would’ve got a point!
I ,for one, have supported Yaya all the way but he was absolutely terrible. 4.5 flatters him. His passing was awful, and not to mention his failure to track down Meireles.
Clichy has been impressive all along and I tend to take this occasion as a bad day in office for him. It is a shame we will not have him for Arsenal game esp against the fast paced Walcott.
Silva should learn to take his chances when provided. We had a few opportunities to finish off the game but failed to capitalize.
There is absolutely no way Yaya was worse than Milner !! Didn’t see milner complete a pass , had crosses overhit and looked lethargic.. Yayas passing was incisive , accurate and he was a rock through midfield.. Dont know how he was a 4.5
Yeah i would not fault Clichy too much because he has been excellent for us before this game. I for on would also like to see City chase either Kevin Doyle or Shane long in the January window, they can run on to the ball and hold it up and are proven goal scorers in the league, they don’t seem to have big ego’s either.
lescott 7.5 really? Cost us a point here and 2 points at liverpool he is awful get rid asap if u ask me
It is interested how people view the game. I thought yaya started magnificently and then lost all willingness, which reflected in his quality. Barry was outstanding but i thought milner, who has been excellent recently, was all effort and no quality. Ideally i would have liked dzeko on as soon as we went down to ten as he has been effective recently and the ball has been sticking.
I too have defended YYT when you and others have slagged him, but on this occasion he was pretty dire.
Milner was not anywhere near his best but I think Josh’s criticism of Lescott unwarranted. Defenders, especially CH’s defend in the box a good deal and that kind of handball penalty is one of the hzards.
no other defender waves ther arms around wen blocking shots they put ther arms behind ther backs i remember he did a similar thing at the bridge and got away a couple of seasons ago at the end of the day he has again been biased wen rating english players he wasnt r 2nd best player he was probs 2nd worst after yaya
4.5 flatters Yaya, absolutely diabolical
