Man City 3 – 2 QPR – PLAYER RATINGS

15 May

Hart - Helpless for both goals and was only forced into action on one occasion, getting down well to deny Cissé from a free-kick. Otherwise completely untroubled - 6

Zabaleta - Played as a right winger for much of the game, often finding himself in space out wide though his delivery was inconsistent. Grabbed the opening goal thanks to a Paddy Kenny error and never stopped trying – 6.5

Kompany - Partially at fault for Mackie’s goal, having been indecisive as Traoré galloped down the wing. Was a spectator for large periods, such was our dominance and there are reports today that he suffered a calf strain in the first half but carried on as he feared being substituted. A true leader and inspiration - 6

Lescott – His error allowed Cissé in to equalise and it says everything about Lescott’s performances throughout the season that everyone was surprised at the mistake. He’s been magnificent all campaign and will be hugely relieved we managed to win - 6

Clichy - A constant presence down the left, providing a useful outlet for our attacks. Mackie caused him the occasional moment of trouble but Clichy was solid for the most part and his celebrations at the end highlighted just how much it meant to him - 6.5

Barry - Sacrificed in the second half as we pushed everyone forward but it was another competent display from the England man. Not involved too often but did his job neatly - 6

Y. Touré - Had started to find his feet as the first half wore on, spreading the play well and upping the tempo just when needed. Provided the assist for Zabaleta’s goal despite being injured, although eventually succumbed just before the break - 6

Nasri - Struggled to make any impression, seeing plenty of the ball but failing to make the breakthrough. Operated from a more central position following Barry’s departure but it wasn’t quite his day - 5

Silva - Always looked to be involved but found QPR’s organised defence hard to penetrate. Seemed to spend most of the second half taking corners and it was his delivery that Dzeko headed home - 6.5

Tévez - A willing runner throughout, as you’d expect, but his final touch in and around the box wasn’t there. Replaced by Balotelli in the second half and that may be the last we see of the Argentinean. He did, however, play his part in the last month of the season - 5

Aguero - That is why players of his quality cost as much as they do. That moment in the 94th minute will live long in the memory for every City fan and it meant that the whole team will be remembered as legends. The composure to ride Taiwo’s challenge is still hard to fathom but we will be eternally grateful to Sergio. Up until that point had been anonymous but then came that moment - 8

Subs

De Jong - Replaced the injured Yaya towards the end of the first half and slotted in seamlessly. Such was QPR’s limited ambition, his defensive cover wasn’t needed frequently but used the ball neatly – 6

Džeko - His physical presence made a difference, providing a focal point in attack as we launched crosses into the box. Scored the equaliser which gave us a glimmer of hope - 6.5

Balotelli - Maligned and criticised by many, Mario showed just how important he can be. A brief cameo but one full of impact and intent. Managed seven shots in his time on the pitch, showing desire and resolve and somehow directed the ball into Aguero’s path for the winner despite being on the floor. If he can fulfill his potential, he will be a star - 7

Surprisingly critical to say we won the league. I thought Zabaleta, Clichy and Balotelli were immense.

Watching the goal still gives me goosebumps. Champions.

Believe it or not, I have been watching the last 5 minutes of a game almost every hour and I can not get over it.

The moment Yaya was substituted due to his injury, I knew that bad things were bound to happen but thank God we had a close call.

As much as I hate to say it but Credit to Carlos Tevez to play on Barton’s weakness to force him into a reaction.

one mistake doesnt mean someone deseves a 5 or whatever, nor does it mean he all of a sudden needs replacing. Kompany has made mistakes at times during the season but no one in their right mind would suggest to bring in someone for his place

I think the scores are fair when not getting caught up in the magnitude, madness or emotion that was the last 5 minutes including what it meant. Balotelli was excellent when he came on, and for Aguero’s barely human composure, i would have maybe given him a 9.

I think you are being a little overly harsh with some of those scores. Not sure why that is, but I would definitely have added at least a point to each of them, unless you no longer score out of 10 that is!

Fair scores. We won the title but as a performance I think there were some real nervous moments.
