Hart - A touch unfortunate with the goal, having made a terrific stop to deny Fellaini’s first attempt. Not tested a great deal after that although he did make a meal of dealing with Jelavic’s free-kick. Distribution was excellent - 6
Maicon – A rampaging presence down the right but his crossing was not at its best. Forced Howard into making a save with a fierce shot from just outside the box, but was left exposed at times in defence, faced on his own by the dual threat of Baines and Pienaar - 6
Kompany - A dominant, authoritative figure in the heart of defence, battling well against the strength and touch of Fellaini. Read the game superbly, making a number of valuable interceptions and was nifty in possession, too - 7.5
Lescott – Slotted in to the side seamlessly, proving, as he has always done, that he is a very good out and out defender yet still vulnerable with the ball at his feet. Impressive in the air but occasionally panicky with his clearances - 7
Kolarov - His width could perhaps have been useful in breaking down Everton’s stubborn resilience but pulled a muscle early on and was taken off injured - No time to mark
Barry – I feel I’m saying the same about him every game, but he really was very good in his understated manner once again. Does the unpleasant jobs in midfield, making challenges, stopping opposition attacks and retaining possession without ever being flashy. A key cog in this side - 7.5
Y. Touré - Not his worst performance of the season but still nowhere near his domineering best. Struggled to impose himself on the game, either physically or with his passing. Misses the midweek Dortmund game through suspension and that will afford him a much-needed rest before the Manchester derby - 5

Nasri - This game summed up Nasri’s City career so far. The occasional flash of brilliance, the ability to take on and beat a man from a standing start but no end product and drifted out of the game. He has so much natural talent but doesn’t produce anywhere near enough - 6
Silva – Our brightest spark in the opening exchanges but didn’t quite have that cutting edge to open up Everton’s backline. Well marshalled by the visitors and wasn’t afforded too much space in which to operate - 6
Tévez - Plenty of bustling desire as you would expect but never seemed capable of breaking through from open play. Took his penalty with a rare composure but withdrawn in the second half - 6
Džeko - Not as bad as he was against Real Madrid and Chelsea when given the chance to impress from the start, but still made no meaningful impact. Drifted into a couple of promising positions but didn’t have that ruthlessness to capitalise - 6

Zabaleta – His versatility came in useful once again, having to slot in on the left of a back four and whilst he was solid for the most part defensively, he couldn’t offer too much in an attacking sense. On the left, he doesn’t get the angle or timing of his darts forward correct and thus restricted our options of playing with width - 6
Aguero – Didn’t make any real impression, starved of service as he was. Forced to drop deeper to pick up the ball but had no impact - 6
Balotelli – Smashed one shot wide from outside the area and couldn’t find the winning goal but provided some sort of spark - No time to mark
I have to say YaYa was absolutely awful yesterday. Aside from the complete lack of any attacking intent (he’s even abandoned his two marauding runs per game from last season) he lost the ball to set up Everon’s goal then was continually out muscled and out thought by Fellani through the game – to the extent that he resorted to hacking at him 4 times in the same move! He (usually) comes into his own in the big games (eg cup final; semi-final; run in last season) however for such a player he needs to provide his game consistently. Yesterday he was pathetic. 3/10.
Agreed on Tevez – he is usually poor at penalties so nice to see him place one. However the midfied and attack looked too separate both between each other and individually.
Feel the nees to comment as i always looj at the marks on here. Excellent judgement yet again. What is your view of the strikers performances this far?
Yaya was so quiet because a yellow card would have meant he would be suspended for the derby, and you could sense that was on his mind by how he was playing, I’ll take that reserved performance on the chin cause we couldn’t do the derby without him, team is built around Yaya in many ways
Whats the excuse for yaya in the 2 and a half months before this game?

Has he been in danger of a suspension for the whole of the season thus far then?!?!
What I can say is that his “no show” against Everton was not as bad as Garcia vs Wigan – one of the worst performances of any City player I can recall, including Frontzeck!!
Shame Milner was injured as Everyon n centre midfield will have suited hm down to the ground.
Although of course I doubt whether Mancini will have played Milner in CM (or even started him) against Everton anyway even though it’s his best position.
I keep waiting for the City attack to find the clinical ability we saw last season. Silva is still carving out openings but our approach work seems so slow and predictable that we always find ourselves facing a packed defence. Too many back passes and not enough electrifying runs forward, especially on breakaways. Kun Aguero is not getting the same scoring opportunities this season and our corners look too easy to defend.
