Sunderland v MAN CITY – The PREVIEW: City’s Probable Team
25 Dec
William Hill have some excellent odds for this match: Vincent Kompany to score the only goal stands out at 90/1 whilst Yaya Touré is 8/1 to score the final goal of the game.
Roberto Mancini could well make a number of changes to the side as he aims to freshen matters up and look for another victory after the dramatic last minute win over Reading. Vincent Kompany could return, with Joleon Lescott’s physicality also an option to combat the threat of Steven Fletcher, whilst Gael Clichy is likely to recover from a slight injury to replace Karim Rekik.
James Milner is in with a shout, possibly in place of Javi Garcia, but Samir Nasri is still sidelined and Mario Balotelli is only expected to be named on the bench at best. Edin Dzeko could be drafted in to offer more height in attack.
Here is the side Mancini could select:
Referee: Kevin Friend
Prediction: Sunderland 0 – 1 MAN CITY – It is likely to be a tight affair with neither side looking particularly fluent in attack. In a game of few chances, I’m backing Sergio Aguero to score the only goal.

Wheres the merry christmas VFAB? I hope Mancini goes for Aguero and Tevez becuase if he doesnt and we dont win he will be open to criticism. Would definitely like to see Milner in for Garcia as well
I can not agree more!
We will win in a canter, whatever th team Bobby puts out on the pitch. No way Sunderland will be able to score.
You can never suggest an oppostion team have no chance to score, u cud have thought that last year
I would love to see Bobby replaces Yaya with Tevez in the above line-up. As much as I love Yaya, he has not been himself recently and one game bench-time may benefit him.
Our side is built around Yaya, there’s no way he’s going to be left out, arguably our most important player
Kallum, while Yaya still recieves a lot of the ball he is not doing much with it at the moment. He isnt making the same runs and he is dwelling on the ball much more than he used to, his position is really important but he has been well below standard in the last 3 months
