Everton v MAN CITY: The PREVIEW – City’s Probable Team

15 Mar

According to Roberto Mancini, Vincent Kompany will miss this fixture as he continues to battle back from calf injuries, so that means Kolo Touré will retain his place at the heart of defence, alongside either Matija Nastasic or Joleon Lescott, with the latter a possibility due to his superior aerial prowess.

Paddy Power are offering new customers a FREE £25 bet! They have plenty of specials for City’s fixture against Everton, with Javi Garcia a teasing 16/1 to score the first goal of the game. Marouane Fellaini to score first and City to win 2-1 stands out at an incredible 80/1. Click here to open an account and claim your FREE £25 bet!

In midfield, Javi Garcia could come into the side, providing the benefit of his physicality, with Yaya Touré pushed forward to operate in his more advanced role just behind the striker. Sergio Aguero is sidelined but hopes to be back for the Newcastle game, so Carlos Tévez and Edin Dzeko are battling it out to be named up front.

Here is the side Mancini could select:

Referee: Lee Probert – He was the man in charge when City faced Everton earlier this season, whilst his only other match officiating the Blues during this campaign was the comfortable 3-0 home win against Sunderland.

Prediction: Everton 1 – 1 MAN CITY – The Toffees always raise their game against us and despite their capitulation last weekend versus Wigan, we know they will be at the top of their game defensively. Without Sergio Aguero, we might find it tough to break them down. Goals to be scored by Marouane Fellaini and Carlos Tévez.

William Hill have some excellent odds for this match: Joleon Lescott is 26/1 to open the scoring whilst Yaya Toure to score the final goal of the game is hugely tempting at 9/1. Bet here now!

Tough game this, we haven’t really done ourselves justice since the 5-1 thrashing we gave them a good few years ago.
Moyes will have them on their toes cruching in for every 50/50 and if we let them win them, as we have done a few times, it will be a long 90 minutes.

I’d be more inclined to go for a nominal 433 with:
    …………..Hart
    Zabaleta,Toure(K,)Lescott, Clichy
    ….Milner…Toure(Y)…Barry
    ……..Tevex…….Silva
    …………..Dzeko

That is a side that really shouldn’t get bullied and it has more than enough firepower if the FB’s can find the time and space to get fwd, especially later in the game.

Alternatively they could pretend we are Wigan and not turn up.That would be nice!!

I can not agree more. If there is one game in which City should fight tooth and nail and work like a horse, it would be this game.

Your line up is okay with me only if Yaya is pushed forward.

Is Nastasic injured. If not i would definitely play him along side Toure as Lescott`s passing is becoming a liability. I would also like Sinclair to have a starting place against Everton as his pace down the wings will give baines something to think about instead of bombing forward creating dangerous crosses and to limit his ability to shoot on goal.
