MAN CITY v Everton – The PREVIEW: City’s Probable Team

4 Oct

Rather than the result itself, it was the lacklustre, abject performance and manner of defeat midweek against Bayern Munich that was so striking. To that extent, there will no doubt be the temptation for Manuel Pellegrini to make a number of changes to the side which he sends out to face Everton.

I’d expect Joe Hart to continue in goal despite his uncertain form. Costel Pantilimon is a good back-up and would be number one for many Premier League teams but the feeling is that Hart needs support from the manager and should therefore keep his place. Pablo Zabaleta is likely to step back into the side while Joleon Lescott is a contender to start ahead of Matija Nastasic. Gael Clichy and Aleks Kolarov are battling it out for the left-back berth.

Vincent Kompany is 33/1 to score the opening goal with William Hill. They have some cracking odds here!

In midfield, James Milner is a possible starter, while there are the options of Jack Rodwell and Javi Garcia if Pellegrini fancies freshening up the centre. David Silva was only fit enough to feature for twenty minutes in midweek so this game might come one too soon for him to be included from the beginning, but Alvaro Negredo is a surefire bet to replace the consistently underwhelming Edin Dzeko.

Yaya Touré is a teasing 8/1 to score the final goal of the game. Bet here with Paddy Power and receive a free bet worth up to £50!

Here is the side that Pellegrini could select:

Prediction: MAN CITY 2 – 1 Everton – My heart ruling over my head. It goes without saying that we’ve had the odd difficulty or two against this opposition in recent years but shorn of David Moyes and now intent on playing a more progressive style, they might not have the same intensity or desire to make life hard for us. Goals to be scored by Sergio Aguero, Alvaro Negredo and Romelu Lukaku.

Sergio Aguero to score the first goal and City to win 2-1 is hugely tempting at 35/1. Bet with William Hill here!

Fancy City to come from behind to win? You can get odds of 9/1 for that with Paddy Power. And receive a free bet here!

Zaba definately back in. Lescott up against his old team and rest Nastasic who, even though is our future, needs a break to get his game back together. Rodwell has got to come in for Fernandinho, again, against his old team mates and to watch Barclay. If MP plays Garcia before JR then that’s it for me with him as manager. JR is our future too if we can keep him injury free, Garcia certainly isn’t. Negredo a certain starter alongside Aguero with Jovetic getting a run out in the second half. Milner for Navas. Hope Merlin is fit enough to start as Nasri goes missing in physical battles.
