MAN CITY 3 – 0 Swansea – PLAYER RATINGS

2 Dec

Pantilimon - Was far busier than he might have expected, but saved well when he was called upon from distance and was out quickly at the feet of De Guzman when the Swansea midfielder wasted the visitors’ best chance - 7

Zabaleta - Created the final goal of the game for Nasri, which was just reward for his performance. Solid defensively, he was gritty at the back and linked up well with Navas when joining our attacks - 7.5

Demichelis - He continues to demonstrate why Pellegrini was so keen to add his experience and reading of the game. He anticipates danger so well and is very calm in possession, always looking to bring the ball forwards with positivity - 7

Lescott - With Nastasic sidelined for around three weeks, the opportunity presented itself to Lescott and he grasped it confidently. Whereas he was shaky in midweek against Viktoria Plzen, he was much sharper yesterday. He intercepted a number of attacks on the edge of our box and was much more assured in possession than usual - 7.5

Clichy - He has really stepped it up over the past month or so. Having started the season hesitantly, he’s now back to the energetic presence he has been over the past couple of campaigns. Dogged in defence and sensible in the final third - 7

Y. Touré - Started slowly and a large part of Swansea’s threat in the first half came because of Yaya’s lack of defensive acumen and his refusal to track runners. However, he improved markedly after the break and set up Nasri for his first with a lovely surge and assist - 7

Fernandinho - Bundles of energy, as usual, and he continues his impressive adaptation to the Premier League. So comfortable on the ball, he glides through a game, starting attacks and mopping up in midfield - 7

Navas - Couldn’t quite have the impact he would have hoped but still a decent showing. Looked to get to the byline as frequently as possible but his delivery into the box was often poor - 6

Nasri - His mightily impressive renaissance continues. Heavily involved in all our positive play, he once again displayed his guile, drive and creativity from deep. Took both his goals clinically and with a natural touch and he fully deserved the man of the match award - 8.5

Aguero - By his standards over the past couple of months, this was a disappointing showing! Still, he was a constant thorn with his movement and trickery and he was unlucky not to add a goal - 7

Negredo - Struck a delightful free-kick to set us on our way and some of his one-touch layoffs for the likes of Aguero and Navas were divine. The weight of his passing, his knowledge of what’s around and his selfless team ethic are all first class - 7

Subs

Milner – Full of energy following his introduction, he was shifted all around the midfield and was an influence in the final third. Produced a delightful pass to Zabaleta in the build-up to the first goal - 7

Kolarov - A couple of wayward shots from a more advanced position than normal - 6

Dzeko – A brief cameo - No time to mark

Think lescott and demi are very very similar players difference being demis better on the ball would be surprised if lescott got a new deal as at the end of the season I see rekik being the number 2 left sided centre back behind nastasic but on sunday he was impressive and I aint his biggest fan still don’t think he was great on ball gave it away 2 or 3 times through very simple passes

CANNOT UNDERSTAND PELLIGRINI’S RELUCTANCE TO GIVE DEDRYK BOYOTA A GO. HE WAS A SOUND YOUNG DEFENDER UNTIL HIS SENDING OFF AGAINST ARSENAL. THE BELGIAN PRESS RAVED ABOUT HIM AND HOW HE COULD A PERFECT PARTNER FOR KOMPANY.
