MAN CITY v Stoke – The PREVIEW: City’s Probable Team

29 Aug

Bacary Sagna is in line to make his first start in a City shirt, allowing Pablo Zabaleta the chance to rest, something he was unable to do too often last season. On the other side of the back four, Aleks Kolarov is expected to replace Gael Clichy, but Eliaquim Mangala is still not ready to compete for a place in the heart of defence.

Further forward, Fernandinho is an option to come into the side and get some minutes under his belt, as are Jesus Navas and James Milner. Manuel Pellegrini will want as many players as possible to be match fit ahead of what promises to be a daunting September fixture list, but he’s unlikely to want to disrupt the team too much.

Jesus Navas could well start and he’s a tempting 10/1 to grab the opening goal of the game with Paddy Power. Open an account here and get a free bet of up to £25!

Here is the side he could select:

Manchester City 4-2-2-2 football formation

Referee: Lee Mason.

Prediction: MAN CITY 2 – 0 Stoke – While Saturday’s visitors pose a consistent problem at the Britannia Stadium, they have been meek on their recent travels to the Etihad and we should have more than enough quality to dispose of them. I’m predicting goals to be scored by Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero.

Vincent Kompany, such a powerful threat at set-pieces, is 23/1 to score the first goal. Get a free bet of up to £25 with Paddy Power here!

I think it is about time to have Yaya on the bench for some games. Considering the recent drama by his agent and knowing that he is 31, the team has to come to terms in playing without him in the line-up more often than not.

The more you play him the better he gets. He won’t get dropped

I perfectly agree. And with Fernando being a perfect defensive midfielder, we cannot tolerate Yaya’s half-hearted games again. Maybe some time on the bench will do him some good

At the Etihad lasy season, Stoke played defensive. They had almost 10 men as defenders. Thus, Navas’ outbursts will be welcome. Have a feeling Lampard will get some playing time in the second half.i expect a comfortable run against Stoke. Prediction- 4:1 win
