Wolves 2 – 5 MAN CITY – PLAYER RATINGS

27 Oct

Pantilimon - Fumbled a couple of shots and handling was very mixed. Punched well from corners and used his height to his advantage, but didn’t look totally secure - 6

Zabaleta - Defensively off the pace and was late into a number of tackles. A fair few late challenges or pulls on shirts that he got away with. Better going forward.- 6

Savic - Not his most convincing game! Picked up an early booking and should have received a second shortly afterwards for a lunge, but luckily got the benefit of the doubt. Looked uncertain all evening - 5.5

K. Touré – Very poor positionally and was seemed totally short of match fitness. Struggled to cope with the movement of Vokes and Doyle up front and was second best in the air. Not going to force his way into the first team if he carries on like this - 5

Kolarov - As per usual, a very good attacking outlet down the left, especially in the second half when he had so much time and space. Linked up well at times with Scapuzzi and Dzeko but better sides than Wolves will expose the gaps he leaves in defence - 7

De Jong - Another experienced player who wasn’t at his best. Has struggled a touch since returning from injury and probably needs more minutes under his belt. Didn’t protect our defence enough and allowed Wolves too much space in which to attack - 5.5

Razak - Outshone De Jong in the battle of the holding midfielders. Used his body well to protect the ball and looked extremely comfortable when advancing with it. Broke forward numerous times and looked bright. Would surely benefit from going out on loan - 7

Scapuzzi - With there being no way back for Tévez, Luca ‘Jacuzzi’ Scapuzzi is our fourth choice striker so it was pleasing to see him make his debut. Did quite well on the whole in an unusual left sided position. some nice touches in and around the box and he’ll want to claim the fourth goal. Worth persevering with - 7

A. Johnson - Took his first goal beautifully and his through ball for Nasri’s was quite brilliant. But as is the norm with Johnson, then dirfted totally out of the game. I agree with Mancini that he needs to offer more throughout the 90 minutes, but when he was involved, he was the difference - 7.5

Nasri - Some very neat and tidy touches to keep the ball flowing. Took his goal very well, striking it early and catching the Wolves ’keeper off balance. Without Silva in the side, much of the creative onus was on him and he stepped up the mark - 7.5

Džeko - A close run thing, emphasising how this was very much a solid team performance, but Edin is my man of the match. Two very simple goals but he’s a poacher and was in the right place when he needed to be. Started slowly but improved drastically, bringing others into play and looking like a powerful target man - 8

Subs

Suarez – The debut we all wanted to see. Very highly rated by those at the Academy and showed glimpses of his potential in his brief cameo. Looks to have the wonderful knack of finding space and seems a natural on the ball, much like David Silva - 6.5

Rekik - His second substitute appearance in this competition and again he looked calm and composed. Reads the game well for someone so young and looks confident in possession - 6

Milner - The experienced head to guide us through the last five or so minutes - No time to mark

I like these ratings. De Jong and Zabs can play much better. De Jongs passing was awful at times and Zabaleta was a fouling machine.

On the bright side, Suarez looks great, Id like to see more of him. Scapuzzi also looks a good enough 4th striker for me.

Where is Gai Assulin though, will he ever get a shot?

this is the first time ever that I dont agree with you, razak was really poor and de jong looked good. good to see suarez though.

Razak and Scapuzzi look very promising. Though very young but in a year or two I believe we should have two Jack Wilsheres in our team!

Agree with most of it. However Razak was no where near 7. He was unsure, to lightweight, lacked vision. Perhaps I’m over critical. I think that Suarez was better than 6.5 – he was assured with a great touch – best of the youngsters.
De Jong was better than 5.5, although he isn’t back to his best.

well done blues! To come back from a shaky start is very commendable. Johnson – well done son.

Ringo,if I may. It is “YOU fucking pussies”.

And as regards to playing uphill, I suggest that you get someone in to flatten it. I’ve got the number of a fairly good landscape gardener if you need it.

Yes, I think I would sell my wife to the Sheiks. She does quite like Abu Dhabi after all.
